SIGNIFY China is our second home

With over 127 years of history, Signify was founded in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, with the name of Philips. As a global lighting leader, Signify’s business covers professional lighting, consumer lighting, and IoT lighting.

China is the second home of Signify. Philips lighting products were seen in China as early as the 1920s, and it set up the first joint venture here in 1985. With the mission of providing the Chinese people with extraordinary lighting experience, Signify has been leading the rapid transformation and ground-breaking development of China’s lighting industry. It has been actively supporting the development of China’s new urbanization, and cooperating with the Chinese government to build a beautiful China by promoting efficient and environmentally-friendly lighting products. Signify participated in major lighting projects such as lighting for Beijing Olympic venues, reconstruction after Wenchuan earthquake, lighting projectsfor Shanghai World Expo2010, Hangzhou Canal and the Guangzhou TV Tower.

Shanghai is very important to Signify. At present, the company’s second largest global R&D center and its regional headquarters are both located in Shanghai. Located in the Shanghai Caohejing New Technology Development Zone, the R&D center, with a floor area of more than 20,000 square meters, has about 1,000 people who are engaged in the global R&D and testing of LED intelligent connected lighting. The Philips (China) Investment Co Ltd of Signify was formally established in Minhang District in July 2015 with a registered capital of US$100 million.
