A man, on suspicion of using fake car plate to pretend to be a taxi driver, was put under criminal detention after he allegedly tried to flee when asked to show his licenses and also hurt a traffic cop during the escape , xinmin.cn said.

The suspect, surnamed Wang, was first caught on suspicion of driving along Humin Road and Hongmei Road to look for business.

He kept changing driving directions and tried to escape after learning he was eyed on and asked to pull over by a police officer, surnamed Li.

As Li required Wang to show his licenses, Wang slammed the door closed, which caused the cop’s left hand to be stuck by the door.

The cop reportedly had kept slamming the window, asking Wang to open the door, but Wang still refused to open it and continued driving.

Wang was finally subdued with joint efforts by passers-by and other police officers, the report said.

Wang allegedly told the police that he tried to escape as he wasn’t licensed for taxi service.

The police later confirmed that Wang was using a fake car plate. The city’s traffic law enforcement team also found Wang was on suspicion of disguising his car as a Dazhong taxi, of the city's major taxi fleet.

Further investigation is still ongoing.
