Golden Elephant’s colorful menu opens with a brief historical introduction that attributes much of Thailand’s culinary splendor to early Chinese influences. The flavorful grilled pork neck, for instance, comes thinly sliced with a tangy soy glaze reminiscent of Hong Kong. The Charcoal-grilled chicken is dry and barbecued chicken available in Bangkok. Far more authentically Thai is the light whole fish baked in banana leaves, which arrives anointed with a delightfully fiery curry paste. The real standout, however, is the deliciously acidic king prawn and pomelo salad which balances crunchy fried pieces of king prawn with fresh citrus flavors, sweet cashews, salty fish sauce, and tangy chilies with the flavorful flair for which Thai food is renowned.
Golden Elephant’s mid-range wine list comes second to its extensive selection of fresh fruit juices, herbal drinks, cocktails, teas and coffees.
One thing Golden Elephant replicates faithfully is Thai service: the staffs are accommodating, smiley, and extremely friendly.
Dinner for two with drinks will cost approximately RMB 600
