Recently, the preliminary design of the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway (Taicang-Situan section) was approved by the China National Railway Group Limited, Shanghai Municipal People's Government and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.

The first phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway started operation on July 1, 2020. It crosses the Yangtze River from Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province and enters Shanghai through Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang in Jiangsu province. After opening, the railway has greatly shortened the travel time between Shanghai and Nantong as well as the northern Jiangsu region, which is of great significance to promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Stretching 106.79 kilometers, the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway is designed to run passenger trains at a speed of 200 kph. The second phase project starts from Taicang Station in the north, connects with Situan Station in the south and passes through Taicang City in Jiangsu province, Jiading District, Baoshan District, Pudong New Area and Fengxian District of Shanghai. There are six stations along the line: Taicang Station - Xuhang Station - Waigaoqiao Station - Caolu Station - Shanghai East Station - Situan Station.

In the future, the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway will connect to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, making it more convenient for passengers to travel. When passengers get off the high-speed train, they will be able to arrive in Pudong Airport by walking just a few hundred meters. Are you looking forward to it?
