One new confirmed COVID-19 case was reported in Shanghai on December 7, said a spokesperson at a municipal government press conference held on Thursday.

The local patient is a male aged 30 living in the fourth phase of Yulan Xiangyuan, Lane 2281, Zhangdong Road, Zhangjiang Town, Pudong New Area.

The case was found to be a close contact of a local confirmed case in another province. He travelled from Shanghai to his hometown on the afternoon of December 1, and participated in a gathering activity, before returning to Shanghai by train on December 4.

He is a mild case of COVID-19 and has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment.
