Enterprises in Shanghai helping to fight the epidemic
By:Zhao Chunyuan  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2022-04-25 17:41

Many companies have joined the anti-epidemic fight in order to help Shanghai win the battle of epidemic prevention and control as soon as possible, and solve the shortage of prevention or living materials for citizens (especially vulnerable groups) and frontline personnel under closed-loop management.

Providing residents with living materials

Recently, 50 families with financial difficulties in the Siming neighborhood of Jing'an Temple Sub-district received a heavy and heartwarming gift package: a full box of fresh vegetables and eggs weighing more than 5kg. This was a gift package purchased by Inditex (ZARA’s parent company).

Eva Serrano, president of Inditex Greater China, has always been concerned about the lives of the residents in the community during lockdown. She thought of solving some living difficulties for the elderly and disabled, so she spared no efforts to purchase living materials for the residents. Previously, at the end of March, she procured 100 vegetable packages to distribute to the residents.

In late March, Rui'an Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. donated RMB 5 million to the Shanghai Glory Society to purchase epidemic prevention materials urgently needed for the nucleic acid testing and living materials for citizens under lockdown.

"Sazanami Ooedo" has also provided services for community group purchase and soft drinks delivery services to residents in need.

Sending warmth to the anti-epidemic frontline personnel

Eva Serrano also learned that community volunteers needed a large amount of PPEs during consecutive days of the epidemic prevention and control, especially isolation gown and disposable gloves. She found suppliers and arranged procurement, hoping to safeguard the community volunteers' daily work."The prevention and control of the epidemic is the responsibility of the entire society. Seeing that the community workers are working very hard, I also really want to do my best to contribute as much as I can," Eva said.

After learning that some community workers had not been home for more than a month, the company donated a batch of soft drinks and 40,000 disposable underwear to the local governments. In addition, the company took the initiative to organize dozens of employees to actively participate in the volunteer service team.

Sleeping bags donated by Rui'an Real Estate Development

Some days ago, the weather suddenly cooled down. The staff members from Rui'an Real Estate Development were quick to response after learning that frontline personnel from Middle Huaihai Road Sub-district needed 200 sleeping bags to fend off the cold night air. Great efforts were made by both the company and the staff to send the sleeping bags to frontline personnel and volunteers within 6 hours.

“We are deeply touched by every volunteer who has contributed greatly to the city. We are also grateful to the Shanghai Glory Society for giving us the opportunity to practice corporate social responsibility,” said Wang Ying, CEO of Rui'an Real Estate Development Co., Ltd.
