Shanghai reported 2,472 newly confirmed local COVID-19 cases and 16,983 new asymptomatic cases at a municipal government press conference on April 25. On April 24, 51 new deaths were reported in Shanghai, with an average age of 84.2 years.

They all had a variety of underlying health complaints such as high blood pressure, Alzheimer disease and uremia.

On April 24, 21,972 patients were discharged from hospitals or makeshift hospitals after recovering or having completed their medical observation period.
