Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng held a video meeting with George Walker, chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, an American privately-held global investment management company, on August 27.

Gong unveiled details of Shanghai’s fight against the COVID-19 epidemic and the development of its economy and society. He expressed gratitude for Neuberger Berman’s active participation in the construction of an international financial center in the city.

“We warmly welcome international enterprises and capital to invest in Shanghai, and we will provide better and more precise services to create a larger development space for investors, with a stable, transparent, predictable and fair market environment,” the mayor noted.

Neuberger Berman plans to expand its investment in Shanghai and better assist the city in the construction of an international financial center, Walker said.

Neuberger Berman entered Shanghai in 2008 and has continuously expanded investment over the past 12 years. By the end of 2019, the total assets under the group’s management exceeded US$355.8 billion.
