4 imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported four new imported novel coronavirus cases on Tuesday, while two patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery,said the Shanghai Health in Commission on Wednesday morning.

The first new patient is a Russian who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 28.

The second case is a Chinese studying in the UK who arrived at the Shanghai airport on August 30.

The third is a Chinese studying in the United States who arrived at the Shanghai airport on August 31.

The last one is a Chinese working in India who arrived at the Shanghai airport on August 31.

All the new patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 98 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 566 imported cases, 507 have been discharged upon recovery and 59 are still hospitalized.

No imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Tuesday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
