The English versions of the Shanghai Maths textbook series “One Lesson, One Exercise (yi ke yi lian)” were unveiled at the Shanghai Book Fair early this week.
The book series, translated and published by the East China Normal University Press (ECNUP), consists of 17 volumes for Shanghai’s school students from Grade One to Nine. The full series is expected to be released to the market in early September and will be available in both online and offline bookstores.
According to Wang Yan, president of ECNUP, the books will serve as a model to enhance Chinese students’ bilingual abilities in learning Maths. Moreover, foreign educators can also use them as a reference while studying Shanghai’s mathematics education.
Back in 2015, ECNUP’s “One Lesson, One Exercise (yi ke yi lian)” textbooks were introduced to classrooms in the U.K., as part of the latter’s efforts to learn from Shanghai’s world-class mathematics teaching methods.
