The center to the north session of the Yangpu riverside region has finished solicitation of its design scheme which features ecology, intelligence and innovation with yacht wharf and open forest park getting under the spotlight.

“To create an ecological riverside region is not only greening, but leaving much space for public use.” said Zhang Jiangling, director of Shanghai Yangpu District Urban Planning and Land Administration Bureau.

In the scheme, living and work are designed into one area and even one building to make full use of land. Moreover, the intersection of three rivers-- Fuxing island canal, Qiujiang River and Huangpu River is to be built into a harbor and an international yacht wharf. Gongqing Forest Park which is in the north of Yangpu District is to be divided into two parts by a riverside road and an art hall or city theater is to be built in it.

With professors from Chinese Academy of Science and Tongji University evaluating the scheme, Shanghai Yangpu District Urban Planning and Land Administration Bureau will do detailed planning in the near future. It is expected to see a special riverside region which is characterized by technological innovation, cultural creativity, combined functions of leisure and habitat.
