Twin Towers in Shanghai about to open
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-02-13 09:34

Shanghai’s tallest twin-tower building, the Star Harbor International Center, has been finished and is expected to open to the public in the second half of the year.

Located in Hongkou District, the building consists of two 263-meter-high main towers, a commercial podium and a six-story basement with a total construction area of approximately 450,000 square meters. There are also rooftop gardens and terraces to bring life to the development and blend the commercial centre with the natural environment. Looking from the top, people can have a panoramic view of the Huangpu River.

The width of the main towers gradually reduces from top to bottom, making them resemble two “dings”(ancient Chinese cauldrons).

The glass curtain wall on the exterior of the building is made from special materials whose reflectivity is less than 7%, thus significantly reducing light pollution to the surroundings. Distinctive from ordinary super high-rise buildings, each floor near the glass curtain wall, along with the curtain wall itself, is equipped with a natural ventilation system.

As the largest TOD (transit-oriented development) in Hongkou District, the Star Harbor International Center will surely be a thriving addition to the North Bund area of Shanghai.

Citizens who want to see the twin towers up close can hop on Metro Line 12 and get off at Tilanqiao Station.
