In Marseilles, France in 1794, Desiree Clary (Jean
Simmons), a young millinery clerk, becomes infatuated with Napoleon Bonaparte
(Marlon Brando), but winds up wedding Genaral Jean-Baptiste Berandotte (Michael
Rennie), an aid to Napoleon who later joins the forces that bring about the
Emperor's downfall. Josephine Beauharnais (Merle Oberon), a worldly courtesan
marries Napoleon and becomes Empress of France, but is then cast aside by her
spouse when she proves unable to produce an heir to the throne. In 1955 the film
was nominated Oscar Best Art Direction for Set Decoration.

After the whole North of the Equator freezes below zero, a
group of people in Los Angeles risk their lives while trying to "escape" from
the city's hostile conditions, in order to take a ship to a hotter place on
Earth.

Angola is on the brink of revolution. When talks break down
between the government and the rebels, United Nations personnel must flee the
country for their own safety. Jack (Patrick Bergin), his son Tom, and their
friends Kat and Gabriel are removing landmines from country roads. Hildy, a
physician and Kat's mother, joins this foursome as they try to escape to the
Namibian border. Rebel forces, including a faction led by the vicious General
VanDamm, will do anything to stop them.
