COVID-19 is a call for a resilient globalization
From:ChinaDaily   |  2020-07-30 21:35

"Globalization remains irreversible historical trend, it is the only way to take forward human society," Wang Hao, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily said in the Global Think Tank Webinar -"Stronger together: Global recovery from COVID-19" in Beijing on July 29, 2020.

"History will also prove that lies, buck-passing, isolationism, unilateralism and protectionism are obstacles to human progress."

Wang noted that as China gradually brings the epidemic under control and its business is gradually back to normal, the country is now playing the role of "stabilizer" for the global economy while contributing to the global fight against the pandemic.

"The pandemic has spread fiercely across the world and has had a huge impact on economic and social development. With people around the world struggling with this unprecedented public health crisis, the downward pressure on the global economy has been increasing with each passing day. And although China's economy registered positive growth in the second quarter of this year, it is still under huge pressure."

Wang also highlighted the importance of improving global public health governance and called for cooperation with more influential think tanks, to come up with ideas that can help strengthen international cooperation in the fight against global health crisis, and promote economic development.
