Make-A-Wish Shanghai held a news conference on Jan 11 to announce its achievements in 2017.

Last year, the organization helped seven children fulfill their wishes, and among them was a 5-year-old leukemia patient named Dingding who got to dress up as her favorite Disney princess Elsa from the animated film Frozenduring a visit to the Shanghai Disneyland in September.

"The day when Dingding's dream came true was the happiest day of her life since she was diagnosed with leukemia," said the girl's father. "It was also a happy occasion for the whole family when we saw Dingding hug the character Elsa at Disneyland."

Another child Make-A-Wish Shanghai helped was Xiaohao, a 6-year-old boy who suffers from leukemia. The organization helped arrange a meeting between him and his favorite fictional hero Ultraman, the main character of a Japanese science fiction television series of the same name.

"We believe that, when a wish comes true, it deeply inspires these wish-kids," said Huang Deli, the chairman of Make-A-Wish Shanghai.

"That inspiration is shared among their family members and builds hope and courage in life. We are sincerely grateful to our board members, volunteers and to all of those who have supported this mission of Make-A-Wish Shanghai."

Established in June 2017, Make-A-Wish Shanghai is a nonprofit organization that helps children with life-threatening conditions realize their dreams. Its founding members include The Walt Disney Company, AIG China, and the Peninsula Shanghai hotel.

Families of children aged between 3 and 18 who suffer from severe medical conditions are encouraged to contact the organization via its WeChat account to stand a chance at receiving assistance to fulfilling their children's dreams.
