Enterprises in Zhengzhou, Henan province, have taken measures to guarantee smooth production while tightening disease control measures amid an ongoing COVID-19 epidemic in the city, Zhengzhou Daily reported.
Frozen food retailer Sanquan Foods Co, which has more than 6,000 employees in Zhengzhou, is under normal operation under a closed-loop management protocol, offering accommodation, point-to-point transfer services and daily nucleic acid tests, the report said.
The city is facing an increase in COVID-19 cases, after a new wave emerged last month.
On Wednesday, Henan registered 35 confirmed local cases, all in Zhengzhou, and 141 local asymptomatic carriers, with 132 in the city and the majority found in quarantined or controlled areas, according to the provincial Health Commission.
While some districts in the city are still at risk of transmission and continue to carry out rigorous control measures, most places have begun to restore normal production.
The Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, with a Foxconn plant hit by COVID-19, started seven-day static management on Wednesday. The plant is a major supplier of Apple iPhone products with about 200,000 employees.
During the seven-day period, residents are required to take daily nucleic acid tests, and public gatherings are not allowed.
More than 2,500 kilograms of cabbage in the zone's Washaoliang village were purchased by several supermarkets to provide daily necessities to residents. The cabbage had encountered poor sales because of the ongoing pandemic.
