Legendary women's volleyball coach Lang Ping starts teaching career
By:Wu Qiong   |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2021-10-21 15:59

After the Tokyo Olympic Games, China’s former volleyball star Lang Ping retired as head coach of the national women’s volleyball team. She has now begun a new position as a teacher in the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University (BNU) a few days ago.

Lang gave instructions to the freshmen patiently and imparted her techniques and experiences of playing volleyball to the students. She encouraged them:“Regardless of your current level, you can play well on the field. I hope everyone can enjoy the joy of volleyball.”

The class is for volleyball majors at the university. On October 16, Lang gave a speech at a common education class in front of thousands of undergraduates. She is now director and research fellow at the Lang Ping Sports Culture and Policy Research Center of BNU.

Sharing her journey from a volleyball player to a coach, she said volleyball is China's traditional strength, which should be continued. If you love volleyball, you should always love the career, broaden your horizon to get a global perspective, and capture the dynamics of international volleyball, so as to keep abreast with the world in terms of techniques. Moreover, one has to carefully study the rules of the game and make better use of the rules.

“Volleyball is handed down from generation to generation. You must learn to accept the ups and downs of performance, while the spirit of pursuing the best of yourself can never be changed,” added Lang Ping.
