BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Lucerne Festival Orchestra, a renowned ad hoc seasonal orchestra based at the annual Lucerne Festival, will perform in China's National Center for the Performing Arts in October.

Conducted by Riccardo Chailly, an Italian musician, also the music director of the orchestra since 2016, the performance will feature Sergei Rachmaninov's "Piano Concerto No.3 in D Minor," "Symphony No.3 in A Minor" and Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 6 in A Minor."

The concert will be held for two days on the second weekend in October, with each day's show lasting for about 90 minutes. The tickets for the play are on sale, ranging from 280 yuan (about 40 U.S. dollars) to 1,680 yuan.

Conducting its inaugural concert in the summer of 2003, the orchestra consists of many international music virtuosos and performs every summer at the Lucerne Festival, held in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The music group will later visit Shanghai for a three-day performance at the Shanghai Symphony Hall.

In 2017, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra was invited in the Lucerne Festival, which is regarded as one of the top classical music festivals in Europe, as the first Chinese orchestra to be in the festival.
