Exhibition 'Rebirth Garden Shanghai' kicks off

Have you ever wondered where will old furniture, clothes and used water go? And in what forms will they exist? You may have the answers through an exhibition about regeneration, that is, Rebirth Garden Shanghai which opened at Shanghai World Financial Center on April 6.

The exhibition is hosted by the magazine Business Ecology and Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC).

"We hope to spread the concept of sustainable development by displaying the 12 Chinese and foreign environmental protection cases which were reported by Business Ecology", said Sun Haiyan, Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of the magazine.

These case stories show aspects of the circular economy and represent visions for a better and more sustainable future, a future with less, or no waste.

Six recyclable calicoes of Shanghai elements, out-of-date tea leaves and electric power environmental protection tricycle are shown at the exhibition, simple but thought-provoking, causing visitors to think about rebirth and recycling.

The calicoes were designed by Swedish Magnus Valdemarsson who has been living in Shanghai for many years. He managed to seize and present the typical and old items in the city but still exist in today's daily life.

It is known that after the exhibition these calicoes will take on a new life by entering 30 Shanghai families.

General Manager of SWFC Hoshiya Hideyuki said in the speech that the exhibition is expected to contribute to the environmental protection of the Earth.

Yesterday's opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Consul General of France in Shanghai Thomas Rollet and Deputy Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai Ingrid Sefastsson.
