Hungarian firms eager for places at Import Expo
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-08-01 10:21

Recently, people at Terminal 2 in Shanghai International Pudong Airport might have been surprised to find an interactive digital wall displaying cultural relics of the Shanghai Museum. The magic wall is made by Back & Rosta, a Hungarian company specializing in cultural digitization and intelligent museum solutions. In 2009, the startup founded an R&D base in Shanghai and began its expansion in the China market. A decade later, it is now applying for a place at the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Back & Rosta is one of the many Hungarian companies eager to get a place at the Import Expo, with the help of HEPA (Hungary Export Promotion Agency). According to the HEPA Shanghai Representative Office, as of March, the booths for the Medical Equipment & Health Care Products Hall and the Food and Agricultural Products Hall have been almost fully booked.

Last year at the first CIIE, Hungary was one of the guests of honor and brought a total of 44 Hungarian companies to Shanghai to showcase their products. It also set up a country pavilion displaying Hungarian food, agriculture, tourism and technology.

The Hungarian cheese and wine from the legendary Tokaj Wine Region were favorites of many visitors last year, who lined up to sample the wares of the central East European country.

Feeling excited by the high popularity of the Hungarian Pavilion, HEPA has organized a national pavilion for this year’s CIIE, where Hungary’s agricultural and high-tech industries will be highlighted. For the Food and Agricultural Products Hall, around 10 companies have filed their applications with the help of HEPA. Some other enterprises have booked booths in other exhibition halls. Overall, the scale and number of Hungarian companies taking part in the 2nd CIIE will be more or less the same as last year.
