Recently, the repair work on the site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China has been completed, and the final detailed rectification is currently in progress. After nearly 5 months of repairs, this small Shikumen building with a century-old history will welcome the new century with a brand-newlook.

The site of the First Congress of the Communist Party of China and the former site of Bowen Girls’ School retainsa total of more than 3,000 square meters of wooden finishes, including wooden doors, wooden stairs, wooden skirting boards on external walls, and wooden floors.Due tothe erosion of time, some wooden components have been broken or even decayed, and the repairs need to meet the "three defenses" requirements of anti-ant, anti-corrosion, and anti-fire.

In order to meet the requirements of "three defenses", a traditional craft called "Guangqi" hashadto be used. This craft has an ancient history in China and is mainly used for the restoration of ancient buildings. The entire process requires 12 procedures, after which the surface of the wooden componentsis a thick dark red.
