A 170-year-old restaurant in Shanghai named Xing Hua Lou has re-launched its dim sum services in the morning, recalling many elderly citizens’ memories.
The Cantonese-style dim sum range, such as char siu (barbecued pork), changfen (rice rolls) and baiqie chicken, has attracted many people waiting in line in front of the restaurant to have a try. People also find that some signature foods have been adjusted and innovated.
Among the Cantonese-style restaurants in Shanghai, Xing Hua Lou has the longest history. Founded in 1851, it was only a small snack shop selling Cantonese-style congee and sweet foods. Later, it was renamed Xing Hua Lou restaurant.
