Chinese TV, Internet programs to be broadcast overseas

More original Chinese TV and new media contents will reach a global audience as Shanghai Media Group's WingsMedia released its new strategic cooperative projects with 20 or so international media companies at the 23rd Shanghai TV Festival, which opened today (June 12).

In the near future overseas broadcasting platforms covering Southeast Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East will offer a wide range of Chinese TV and Internet programs to the locals. WingsMedia's international partners include SPB TV, Planetcast, Star Media Group and the U.S. China Film and Television Industry Expo. They will cooperate with WingsMeida in distribution, contents development, technology and copyrights.

He Xiaolan, general manager of WingsMedia, said that they hope to introduce more outstanding domestic programs and the brilliant Chinese culture to the world.

WingsMedia will also be engaged in developing diverse original contents for TV, film, literature, animation and game. Among the projects are epic drama "Legend of Time-honored Brand," and "Guardian," an online series dubbed as Chinese version of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Intellectual kiddie shows and animated series will also be produced.

In terms of the rapid development of short videos in China, WingsMedia announced to set up an association of China's short videos in cooperation with Toutiao.com. News and entertainment contents on TV channels and new media will be fully integrated. The association will also host short video competition for grassroots talents to create light-hearted contents on food, travel and family fun.

Nowadays a lot of domestic series are targeting at a worldwide audience. Also at the festival, Wit and Key revealed that their upcoming youth series "Speed," with stunning stunts of car racing will be distributed overseas next year. Most of the scenes in the series were shot in Australia.

Budgeted over 100 million yuan, the series invited Hong Kong stunt master Bruce Law to choreograph all the action. Law used to help special effects for "Mission Impossible 3" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction." This time he designed high-action stunts for the 60 or so racing cars in the series.
