Mayor talks with Walt Disney chairman and CEO
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2017-06-27 00:29

SHANGHAI Mayor Ying Yong met Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of Walt Disney Company, on Thursday.

Ying said Shanghai Disneyland has been operating well since it opened last June through the joint effort of the Chinese and American teams.

“China continues to promote economic globalization and liberalization and has made effort to facilitate trade and investment. Shanghai wants to work with Walt Disney Company to make Shanghai Disneyland a role model for China-US cooperation,” the mayor said.

Ying went on that the Yangtze Delta has a cluster of world-class cities with robust economy and big spending power. Shanghai Disneyland will remain a hot tourist destination in the region. The municipal government will keep supporting the amusement park.

Iger said Shanghai Disneyland is one of the most important projects in the history of Walt Disney Company. It received more than 11 million visitors in just one year, which exceeded the expectation of the company.

He added that Shanghai, as one of the greatest cities in the world, has huge development potential. The company’s cooperation with Shanghai is just beginning. Walt Disney will work closely with its Chinese partners to build theme parks that offer unique experiences to visitors.
