From:Shine  |  2018-03-08 15:29

Distinguished Chinese sociologist and educator Pan Guangdan (1899-1967) is being remembered in an exhibition in Baoshan District.

The exhibition, which opened on March 7 and runs for a month, is being held at the Luodian Community Cultural Center in Luodian Town where Pan was born and raised.

It is part of a series, "Sons of Luodian," commemorating those born in Luodian who contributed to the country.

This is the first time that Shanghai has held an exhibition on Pan. It includes some of his writings, photos and other personal items.

Pan, known in English as Quentin Pan, was also a renowned expert on education. He was the academic dean of Tsinghua University during the 1930s.

One of his Pan's students, famous sociologist Fei Xiaotong, once said Pan represented a generation of academics who kept personal preconceptions out of research and focused on work they believed in.

Pan was also one of the founders of the China Democratic League, a non-Communist party in China.
