Michelin puts Ultraviolet above them all
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2018-09-21 02:29

THE Michelin Guide launched its 2019 Shanghai edition yesterday, with one of the city’s three-star restaurants in its previous edition losing a star.

Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet, is now the only three-star restaurant in Shanghai, while T’ang Court, a Cantonese restaurant in The Langham hotel in Xintiandi, becomes one of eight venues with two stars.

Xin Rong Ji on Nanyang Road, a Taizhou restaurant, was awarded two stars for the first time.

There are five new one-star restaurants among 25 award winners: Amazing Chinese Cuisine, Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire, Ji Pin Court, Moose and Il Ristorante-Niko Romito.

According to the guide, one-star restaurants are “worth a visit” for “high quality cooking,” those with two stars are “worth a detour” for “excellent cooking,” and three star establishments “worth a special journey” for “exceptional cuisine.”
