Singapore and China will continue to deepen mutual trust and enhance cooperation in trade, according to Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry.

More than 80 Singaporean enterprises are participating in the week-long China International Import Expo, with over 350 Singaporean and Chinese business leaders attending business activities during the event to facilitate dialogue and explore collaboration.

Singaporean enterprises, ranging from logistics and transportation to finance and banking, education, health care and food and beverage, are expected to establish partnerships and make deals during the CIIE. A special matchmaking session has connected more than 60 Singaporean companies with around 2,000 Chinese buyers.

“We look forward to enabling more mutually-beneficial collaborations and a new growth momentum for Singaporean companies through the strong foundation created by the CIIE,” said Teo Siong Seng, chairman of the Singapore Business Federation.

Three memorandums of understanding between China and the predominantly ethnic Chinese nation were signed yesterday to boost collaboration on commercial and logistics connectivity, agricultural commodities trading and minerals.

“We hope that companies from Singapore can seek more cooperation and establish business relations in China’s second- and third-tier cities,” Chan said.
