Li urges MassMutual to expand its business in Shanghai
From:Shine  |  2018-11-12 16:29

Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Roger Crandall, president and CEO of MassMutual, and his delegation on November 10.

Li talked about Shanghai’s latest progress in building itself into an international financial center. He said Shanghai’s biggest strength is openness and it will unfalteringly keep opening up to the outside world.

The first China International Import Expo, held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, is China’s major step to open its markets to the world. The expo will be held annually and become better and more effective. The city welcomes companies from all around the world to participate in the expo and share business opportunities, Li added.

MassMutual is a globally renowned financial service institute whose major business operations and expertise could highly dovetail with Shanghai’s goal of building itself into an international financial center.

Under the prerequisite of building up financial risk prevention mechanisms, Shanghai will promote its insurance industry, and further open its asset management and futures.

The city hopes MassMutual can keep exerting its advantages and supporting Shanghai in its efforts in this direction. The city will strive to build the best business environment for foreign and domestic companies and provide them with better services, said Li.

Crandall said that MassMutual has great faith in China’s markets and is willing to be a part of China and Shanghai’s development. It will use its advantages and experience in insurance and asset management to further expand its cooperation and business operations in Shanghai.

Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
