XuhuiDistrict's science and technology commission will establish work stations for academics and experts to better cooperate with scientific innovation companies in the district.
There are over 100 universities and research institutes in Xuhui District, along with over 100 academics with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, working or living in the district.
The commission will organize these scientific professionals to focus on artificial intelligence, life science, scientific services and science popularization, which are the key scientific sectors of Xuhui, the commission announced at a meeting on Tuesday.
The work stations will support the research and development of scientific and startup firms in Xuhui. The academics are encouraged to conduct joint researchas well as help incubate scientific findings and cultivate professionals. The experts can also offer consultation services to companies.
Ding Kuiling, a member with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the executive vice president of ShanghaiJiao Tong University, was elected the new head of the commission.
