Online reeducation for drivers with revoked license
From:Shine  |  2019-01-08 21:30

Drivers who have at least 12 points deducted from their license within a 12-month periodwill have it revoked until they pass a written traffic regulations test to get a new license in China.

Instead of applying for required education sessions at traffic police service counters, those in Shanghai can now apply and take the classes online, police said on Tuesday.

Drivers can make an application on the official website (sh.122.gov.cn) and start the online education sessions right away. They’re required to take seven days of classes, spending at least three hours every day, including a maximum of five days of online classes or a minimum of two days in real classroom.

But this measure doesn’t cover drivers of larger passenger cars and buses, tractors and large trucks, who will have to sit in a class for at least five days instead of two.

Repeat license losers who have 12 points deducted twice in a one-year period and have the same record for the previous two years will have to take all of their classes in a real classroom.

During online education, drivers are required to turn on their web-cam, and the system takes pictures of them learning and watching education videos as evidence. At the end of a three-hour online learning session, an admin will assess whether the drivers have effectively learned the content.

After all classes are finished, drivers can make an reservation online for an exam leading to a new driver's license.

The content is available in Chinese only.
