A man has been apprehended by police after two people were killed in the Pudong New Area on Wednesday, police said.

The 73-year-old,surnamed Dai, is said to have confessed to killing his grandson athis former daughter-in-law's home and then killed the woman, the boy's mother, in the residential building.

Police saidDaitold them the killings were due a family dispute.

The incidents took place around 2pm in a residential complex on Dongxiu Road, according to police, and Dai was caught at the scene.
