Huashan Hospital Worldwide Medical Center, the nation’s first joint-venture clinic, is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Over the past three decades, the clinic has witnessed the advancement of high-end medical services in Shanghai, officials said during the Cross-Strait International Conference on Development of International and Premium Medicine in China.

Some 300 hospital presidents, governmental officials and health industry insiders participated the three-day conference in Shanghai, which ended on Friday.

Dr Gu Jingwen, director of the medical center and director of Shanghai Medical Association’s international medicine society, said China's premium healthcare industry aligns with international management and health service standards.

With China's economic development, local patients also have rising demands for healthcare, which is accordant with the aim of health reforms and plans to build Shanghai into a leading healthcare center in Asia, she said.

Shanghai is building two international medical parks, in Hongqiao area and the Pudong New Area, to boost the development of high-end medical services and attract more international medical facilities and organizations.
