Authorities from Siyang County, in east China's Jiangsu Province, were in Shanghai on Monday to seek investors and business partners for a number of new tourism and cultural projects.

These projects relate to the Chengzi Lake tourism resort, as well as Siyang's modern service, culture and tourism industries. The Siyang County government has also released a series of preferential polices to entice potential collaborators.

The Chengzi Lake tourism resort project includes an ice and snow town and minsu (Chinese-style B&B) with an estimated investment value of 1 billion yuan (US$141 million). There are also plans for a recreational vehicle park as well as commercial complexes and manufacturing projects.

Examples of Siyang's intangible cultural heritage, such as its traditional peach-pit carvings, were displayed on Monday as well.

Huaimei Opera, a form of opera from Siyang, was performed during the event, hosted in Huangpu District.

The event further aimed to raise the popularity and influence of the county in the Yangtze River Delta region and promote the integration and upgrading of Siyang's culture and tourism, officials said.

Siyang authorities signed strategic cooperation agreements with online travel operator Tongcheng and shared bike operator Hellobike during the event.

The county, founded more than 2,200 years ago, is the original home of Yanghe, one of China's four most famous baijiu brands. It also boastsChina Poplar Tree Museum.
