From:Shine  |  2020-02-12 14:29

Advertisements featuring claims related to coronavirus are strictly banned, according to Shanghai's market watchdog.

Including extra content on the prevention of coronavirus in ads for medical treatment, drugs, medical equipment and other health products is prohibited, said in a notice released by Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation on Tuesday.

Exaggerations or false promotional claims on disinfection products are banned, and marketing common facial masks or masks for industrial use as medical facial masks is also prohibited, according to the notice.

Ads for the sale of wild animals are not allowed.

Ads for exhibitions, business promotions, commercial performances and amusement activities which may lead to gatherings and potential infection hazards should not be released during this key period of epidemic prevention, according to the notice.

Violators will face administrative penalty and the public can tip off irregularities by calling 12315, the administration said.
