Cleaner of high-speed trains found infected
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2020-02-13 08:29

A sanitation worker who was cleaning high-speed trains between Shanghai and Xi’an, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, has been confirmed with novel coronavirus infection, Shanghai rail authorities said yesterday.

The woman, surnamed Wang, is from Chengcheng County in Shaanxi. She was confirmed with the infection on Sunday.

Wang was on 20 trains starting from January 21, according to an announcement of her movements. Shanghai rail authorities have conducted screenings and checked video surveillance cameras following news of Wang’s infection.

Between January 27 and February 1, Wang stayed at an apartment building in Hongqiao area, within 3 kilometers of the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, they said. The building only accommodates station and train workers.

Her body temperature was normal during her stay and she did not have close contact with other people in the building.

Roads between the railway station and the building have few pedestrians, and the building had already imposed temperature checks and daily disinfection during her stay, authorities said, adding that the temperatures of other people at the building are normal.

Wang also did cleaning work on high-speed trains between Xi’an and Chengdu and E’mei, Sichuan Province, from January 21. She took a train from Xi’an to Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, on February 3, and then took two taxis back home.

Rail authorities have urged passengers and drivers on the 20 trains, and other people who may have had contact with Wang, to report to their neighborhood or village committees.
