A research center specially for court cases was unveiled at the Yangpu District People's Procuratorate on Wednesday with four procuratorial experts being invited as its first counselors and 18 scholars and prosecutors to be the first researchers.

A judicial case database also went online on Wednesday for prosecutors, law researchers and the public to search for cases and study them.

The research center was co-established by the Shanghai People's Procuratorate, Yangpu District People's Procuratorate, Shanghai Law Society and East China University of Political Science and Law. It aims to help with the application of cases, analysis of disputed cases, training, theoretical study and law promotion.

The Shanghai People's Procuratorate has reported 133 typical cases since it initiated a provincial-level typical case reporting mechanism in 2008 and half of these cases were newly emerged types.

Meanwhile, the database covers cases publicized by the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate as guidance, typical ones for reference, cases reported by the Shanghai High People's Court and Shanghai People's Procuratorate for reference, cases drawing wide public attention or with great influence in justice.

These cases will be posed with explanation, analysis, related discussion or other materials. Through this platform, prosecutors and researchers can talk with each other online about the cases.
