An extra 27 trains will be put into service in Shanghai for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the China Railway Shanghai Group said on Tuesday.
As many as 925,000 train trips are expected to be made via Shanghai between yesterday and 27, authorities predict.
Most travelers will be making short-distance trips and visiting family in the Yangtze River Delta region, the group said.
The travel peak is expected today, the main day of the three-day festival.
The extra services will be from Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station to Nanjing, Hefei, Xuzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
Passengers are required to wear face masks and have their temperatures checked.
