The platform, called "Where is the waste going,” has provided about 29.46 million search services since July 1 in 2019, the Shanghai Waste Management Office affiliated to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau announced.

The platform has collected more than 100,000 entries and is equipped with intelligent matching functions.

The most-searched-for subject was milk cartons, hitting 324,781, which are recyclable trash, according to the office.

Searches for plastic bags hit 281,366, which are dry waste, followed by eggshells (221,186), which are wet garbage, the office said.

Corn cobs, leaves ofzongzi, a traditional Dragon Boat Festival food made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings, plastics, glass bottles and hair were also among the top 10 most-searched-for items, the office said.
