Changshuin neighboringJiangsuProvince released four new tourist routes for railway passengers on Tuesday in Shanghai prior to Wednesday’s operation of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantongrailway.

Shanghai is about 100 kilometers fromChangshu, and now about an hour by train fromHongqiao Railway Station.

The tourist itineraries include theShajiabangscenic area where PLA soldiers fought the Japanese invaders, theYushanMountain cultural and tourism resort,NanhuLake wetland park,ShanghuLake scenic area, Changshu Museum,JiangxiangJiangnanFolk Customs Museum, Yushan Park, XinguliCultural Street,SanfengTemple and the memorial hall ofpolitician WengTonghe(1830-1904).

Coupons for tourist attractions, cultural venues, restaurants and hotels inChangshuwere distributed to Shanghai residents during an event hosted by theChangshugovernment.

Also promoted during the even were summer tours featuring science popularization,Jiangnansinology, intangible cultural heritage inheritance, folk culture experiences,waxberryand lotus festivals, summer camps and grape picking. Delicacies were promoted during the event.

A Yangtze River high-speed railway tourism alliance comprising Changshu, Taicang,ZhangjiagangandNantongwas established at the same time, and diversified high-speed railway tour routes and products will be launched to boost tourism development along the new railway, the Changshu government said.

The first phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantongrailway will operate from July 1, starting inNantongand ending in Shanghai'sJiadingDistrict.

It crosses the Yangtze River, and has nine stations — Zhaodian, Nantong West, Zhangjiagang North,Zhangjiagang, Changshu,Taicang Port, Taicang, TaicangSouth andAntingWest.

It has a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
