US-based Riot Games, one of the world’s leading video game developers and eSports operators, will locate its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai.
According to the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau, it signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Riot Games yesterday. Los Angeles-based Riot Games is the developer of League of Legends. In 2019, the firm opened its China headquarters in Shanghai, which is striving to build itself into a “global eSports city.” Statistics show Shanghai’s online game industry revenue in 2019 was 80.2 billion yuan (US$11.3 billion), up 12.3 percent year-on-year.
