About the name 'Theatre Above'
The word 'Above' symbolizes the physical location of the venue (5th floor) as well as the artistic quality that the theatre is devoted to. Its Chinese name, the single character 'Shang' of 'Shang Theatre' suggests the location 'Shanghai' and implies 'fashionable' and 'refinement'. 'Shang' can also be interpreted as a verb meaning 'to go' (to theatre), making Theater Above a place where everyone can appreciate the magic and beauty of the art form, according to the introduction of the theatre.
