The Consulate General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Shanghai held a ceremony at the former site of the World Expo Museum on July 5, 2017, celebrating the 206th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces Day.
The ceremony was attended by officers from the foreign affairs offices of Shanghai, Jiangsu Province and Huangpu District, the consular officers of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Greece, India, Iran, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka and Uruguay as well as representatives from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Nanjing University and other organizations and companies.

It is worth mentioning that almost 20 students from Shanghai Foreign Language School took part in the celebration. All of them study Spanish in three grades at the school. A girl surnamed Chen said that the event gave her a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Venezuela.
The tutor Mr. Li told the reporter that the students have participated in a number of events hosted by Spanish-speaking countries in recent years, which helps them in their language study.
