Chongming is one of the important areas for Shanghai’s becoming an innovative, cultural and ecologically conscious city having a global impact.  The area will in the future actively practice the development philosophy of “innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing”, adhere to thestrategy of “ecological and green development” and vigorously promote the integrative development of ecology, production and life.

Chongming’s plan to become a world-class ecological island can be seen as a brand-new direction.

The kernel index system has made clear various aspects including environmental quality, ecological space, water resources, biodiversity, climate and energy and industrial system, which will smoothly guide, monitor and evaluate the district’s progress in achieving the goal of becoming a world-class ecological island.
