Teenagers from 23 countries showcased their nation's unique history and culture as well as people and scenery through painting, presentation and bazaar at the 'Theme Show on Nations' during the 13th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp on July 24, 2017.

"It is truly fun to know about others' cultures and customs in the national show", said 14-year-old girl Dea Bylykbashi from Albania and added that the youth camp enabled her to become acquainted with many peers from across the world. It is notable that the five Albanian campers have started to study Chinese this year.

UK tutor Dan Rees highly praised the broad participation in and good organization of the camp. His view is that the national show really helps understanding and bonding among teenagers from different countries.

It is worth mentioning that the members of the dancing group for hearing impaired people from Shanghai Putuo District Disabled Persons' Federation were invited to the event. "They appreciate the exotic dancing from different countries and feel the passion of these young people", stated Pan the sign-language teacher, expressing what the hearing impaired dancers expressed.

This year the camp has attracted around 150 teenagers and their tutors from 23 countries in Asia, Africa, America, Europe and Oceania. It is the first time that Albania, Chile, Spain, Seychelles, Slovakia and Portugal have sent their young people to join in the camp.

With the theme of 'Peace, Friendship, Future', the 10-day camp is co-sponsored by the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Shanghai Youth Federation, organized by Shanghai Youth Center.
