Pudong airport tackles taxi shortage
By:Zheng Qian  |  From:englsih.eastday.com  |  2017-08-09 16:25

The difficulty of calling a taxi which has been lasting for years for passengers out of Shanghai Pudong International Airport was solved, according to Cao Liu, deputy general manager of the Traffic Security Department of Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

With the aid of big data, the airport created a new set of intelligent deployment system through which enough taxis could be deployed timely from the parking lot to pick up passengers waiting at the terminal exits, greatly shortening their waiting time.

"The Airport Group cooperating with the Municipal Transportation Commission have done the trial renovation of system and personnel for three years. We now have designed a new set of intelligent deployment system which has dramatically improved efficiency." Cao claimed.

As a major aviation hub of China and fifth-busiest airport in Asia, Shanghai Pudong International Airport has an annual capacity of 65 million passengers and a daily capacity of 200 thousand. Its transportation system includes bus, long distance coach, metro, magnetic levitation and private owned car.
