Library thrives in rural Qingpu
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2017-08-17 08:43

Dubbed “the most beautiful village library,” a village house in Qingpu District has become a hotspot for book worms.

Located at No. 205 Nima Village, the house is owned by Chen Junfang and her husband Zhang Ruijie with a garden full of vibrant plants and flowers. Inside the house there is a 100-square-meter village library run by the couple.

The library has three walls full of books that can be borrowed for free. People can take a book from the wall and read it on a sofa while sipping a cup of tea made by the hostess Chen Junfang. The place also serves as a public venue for cultural and educational activities.

Chen and Zhang used to own a bookstore in the downtown of Qingpu but had to close it after running into many difficulties in business operation. All the books were also given away. However, their love for books had never vanished. After returning to their hometown, the couple made a decision to renovate their old house in Nima Village and transformed it into a library. They are now glad to see more villagers are coming to read books in their house.
