The Super Brand Mall in Pudong New Area has become a “late night shopping mall,” thanks to a decision to prolong its business hours until 11:00 p.m. starting from August 11.

The business hours of the shopping mall used to be 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday to Sunday. However, as the number of the city’s nightlife revelers rises, which offers the entertainment and shopping center a great opportunity to attract more customers at night, more and more stores in the mall decide to extend their hours of operation until 11:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

According to an official from the Super Brand Mall, 86 stores have extended their business hours as of August 21. During the first week of their late-night services, customer flow at night was up by 5%, most of whom were youngsters, moviegoers and video gamers. In the meantime, the mall also saw a 10% increase in sales of food and drinks.

Over the recent few years, many shopping malls in Shanghai have piloted plans to provide services until late night, especially those geographically advantaged malls that are located near metro stations, thanks to the extension of subway running time on weekends.
