Shanghai has embraced a festive atmosphere decorated with flowers to greet the National Day.

Around 7.5 million flower pots featuring red sages, begonias and marigolds, to name a few, have been set up around the city, covering a total area of 120,000 square meters, according to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Landscaping and City Appearance (SMALCA).

To greet the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which will also take place in the month of October, key areas across the city, such as People’s Square, the Bund, Chen Yi Square and Pudong Financial Square, have been landscaped with a variety of flowers. Plants and flowers trimmed into shapes of the national flag, the CPC party flag, peace doves and so on can be seen along Yan’an Road, Zhaojiabang Road, East Zhongshan Road Number One and other six designated routes, signifying best wishes for the development of the country.
