Long holiday boosts pet fostering industry
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2017-10-01 09:16

As the 2017 Mid-Autumn Festival falls on October 4th, the National Day holiday becomes the longest national holiday of the whole year, which somehow boosts the pet fostering industry.

Many people plan to spend their holiday out of town. However, one obstacle that might hold them back is to look for someone to take care of their pets. Bai Feifei is an owner of two pet dogs. She plans to travel abroad during the holiday but has no idea how to deal with her dogs at home. Pet stores are already full of cats and dogs to be fostered. “My dogs are my biggest concern. I have to either place them in the pet store or ask my friends to take care of them. But my friends have their own fish to fry. What a struggle!” said Bai.

Placing pets in a pet store is a choice, but it usually requires a high price and the pet stores are always fully booked. That is how pet fostering centers emerged and become increasingly popular. They are an alternative to pet stores. Instead of keeping clients’ pets in cages, fostering centers provide a home-like environment for the animals. They also feed, bathe and walk the animals regularly.
