Putuo to welcome China’s first food delivery robot
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2017-10-16 09:04

China’s first food delivery robot is ready to serve consumers.

China’s first food delivery robot will soon begin its work in Shanghai’s Putuo District. In early November, it will replace delivery workers to perform its tasks to serve takeaway meals to people living and working in the building of MTR City Plaza.

The robot can take elevators automatically.

The robot is jointly presented by Vanke, China’s largest property developer, and Ele.me, China’s O2O food delivery company. With a maximum capacity of 80 kilograms, it can deliver up to three meal orders at a time. Thanks to an embedded sensor system, the robot is able to plan the best route to its destination. It can travel smoothly on different ground surfaces and roam around office buildings while avoiding obstacles on its way.

The robot can work for eight hours nonstop and will automatically return to its charging pile when it is running out of power.

The robot charges itself when it’s running out of power.

According to a staff member of Ele.me, in the near future, more robots will be put to use so as to serve different kinds of customer groups.
